Lalduhoma Calls on Mizo People to Embrace Coexistence and Respect Other Religions
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma urged the Mizo community to honour and respect other religious groups. During the Mizoram peace accord day event in Aizawl, he emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence with diverse communities. The event, organised by Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), commemorated the 1986 Mizoram peace accord, which ended two decades of insurgency led by the Mizo National Front (MNF).

Peaceful Coexistence and Respect
The Chief Minister highlighted the imminent opening of a new railway line between Sairang and Bairabi. This development is expected to bring many outsiders into Mizoram. Lalduhoma stressed the need for mental preparedness and learning to coexist peacefully with people of different religions. "We should prepare mentally. We should also learn to live with other religious communities and respect their religions for peaceful co-existence," he stated.
Lalduhoma also addressed the importance of maintaining a positive relationship with the central government, irrespective of which party holds power. He encouraged Mizoram's residents to foster good working relations with outsiders residing in the state. This approach, he suggested, would enhance communication and harmony among various communities.
Understanding Mizo-Sub Nationalism
The Chief Minister clarified misconceptions about Mizo-sub nationalism, which some perceive as hostile towards non-tribals or outsiders. He explained that its true essence lies in fostering friendships, respecting others, and learning from them. "The true meaning of Mizo-sub nationalism is to make friends, to respect and learn from others," he said.
Lalduhoma called for improved communication and deeper harmony among people from different communities and faiths. This understanding would help bridge gaps and promote unity within the diverse population of Mizoram.
Political Cooperation and Mutual Respect
In his address, Lalduhoma urged political parties to cooperate and show mutual respect. He advised against making baseless allegations and instead advocated for respectful political discourse. "Politics must be guided by mutual respect," he asserted.
The Chief Minister's message underscored the need for political parties to operate within their boundaries while engaging in constructive dialogue. Such an approach would contribute to a more harmonious political environment in Mizoram.
The celebration of Mizoram peace accord day served as a reminder of the state's journey towards peace and unity. By embracing diversity and fostering respectful relationships, Mizoram can continue to thrive as a harmonious society.
