Kuwait arrests man for suspected IS links, recruiting in India

New Delhi, Aug 6: A Kuwaiti national identified as Abdulla Hadi Abdul Rehman Al-Enezi has been arrested in the West Asian country for his suspected links to the Islamic State terror group (IS) and for recruiting youth from Kalyan in Thane district of Maharashtra, ANI reported.

Al-Enezi's arrest is the first arrest made abroad on the basis of information provided by Indian agencies, said the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The NIA had earlier sent a request to Kuwait in the Areeb Majeed-IS case over the transfer of $1,000 by a Kuwaiti national to Majeed, a youth from Kalyan, and his three associates in May 2014 when they were staying in Iraq.

Majeeb had sought help from alleged IS handler Abdul Rehman Dalauti after his fund dried up in Iraq while he was on his way to Syria.

Dalauti then gave Majeeb Enezi's contact number and asked him to take his help, the Ani report said.

The Kuwaiti authorities said that Enezi, a Kuwaiti national, sent $1000 to Majeed through Western Union.

Enezi has also confessed of having backed terrorist organisations and involved in financing of terrorism after his return from Pakistan three years ago, ANI added.

The Kuwaiti authorities arrested him on these charges.
