POCSO case in Kurukshetra as girl alleges assault by consultant at LNJP District Civil Hospital

Police in Kurukshetra registered a case under the POCSO Act after a 15-year-old alleged sexual assault by a consultant doctor at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash LNJP District Civil Hospital. Officials said the complaint emerged after she was admitted with stomach pain and later informed senior doctors. The Haryana government terminated the doctor’s services following the FIR.

Officials said a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a consultant doctor at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash LNJP District Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra. The allegation surfaced after the girl was admitted with stomach pain on May 29. Officials said the doctor allegedly sexually assaulted the girl several times. The girl later began bleeding and was moved for urgent care.

The disclosure emerged after the girl was shifted to the emergency ward on the night of May 29. Officials said the girl told senior doctors about the alleged assaults. The hospital staff then alerted the police. The hospital administration also reported the matter once the complaint became known, officials said.

POCSO Act case in Kurukshetra hospital

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar stated that a case was registered after a complaint by the girl's father. Police booked the doctor under Sections 10 and 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012. Officials linked the police action to the account given at the hospital. The case relates to events said to have occurred inside the facility.

Sources said the accused doctor went on leave soon after the incident. Sources added the doctor has not returned to the hospital since then. The accused doctor is a retired principal medical officer PMO. The doctor is currently posted as a consultant physician at the hospital, according to officials and sources.

Haryana government action after Kurukshetra hospital FIR

After the FIR, the Haryana government ended the doctor's services with immediate effect. Officials cited the seriousness of the allegation and the registration of the case. The step came as police began the legal process. The hospital administration moved quickly once the matter was reported within the hospital.

Another doctor on emergency duty described the events around the admission. The doctor said the girl came from her village with her father on the morning of May 29. The girl reported abdominal pain and a burning sensation while urinating. The doctor, posted in an OPD, admitted the girl to the female ward.

According to the account, the alleged assault occurred later the same day. The emergency duty doctor said it is alleged the accused doctor took the girl to the OPD chamber in the afternoon. The doctor also said that at about 8.30 pm, the girl was moved to emergency. The shift followed complaints of heavy bleeding.

In the emergency ward, officials said the girl described being sexually assaulted multiple times in the OPD chamber. Senior doctors then informed police, officials said. The case remains tied to the complaint filed by the girl's father and the sections applied. Authorities also acted on the employment status of the accused doctor.
