Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations in Haridwar, emphasising safety, smooth pilgrim movement, and high standards of cleanliness. The plan covers traffic management, healthcare facilities, temporary and permanent works, third‑party audits, and close coordination with saints, Akharas, and volunteers to ensure a well‑organised, secure festival.

The review meeting was held at the Mela Control Building in Haridwar, where detailed updates were presented on the progress of ongoing works and action taken on previous directives. The Chief Minister instructed that all works related to the fair be completed by October. While approvals for major permanent works have already been granted, he directed that proposals for temporary works be finalized and executed in a time-bound manner. He also called for third-party audits to monitor construction quality and progress.

Highlighting the importance of traffic management, the Chief Minister directed authorities to ensure adequate transport and parking facilities and to identify alternative routes to handle heavy footfall. A comprehensive plan for bathing, movement and accommodation of devotees should be prepared, keeping in mind the expected crowd. Special arrangements must be made for women and elderly pilgrims.

He also stressed maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the Kumbh area and suggested seeking support from voluntary organizations. Better healthcare facilities must be ensured, including arrangements for boat and bike ambulances to transport sick devotees to the nearest health centres.

The Chief Minister underscored the importance of coordination with saints, Akharas, public representatives, religious organizations and voluntary groups to ensure the systematic and successful conduct of the Kumbh Mela. Their suggestions, he said, should be given due consideration.

On security arrangements, he directed authorities to ensure foolproof security measures, adequate deployment of police personnel, cyber security systems, fire safety preparedness and trained rescue teams.

Reviewing permanent infrastructure works, he instructed that safety audits be conducted for all bridges in the Kumbh area and that repairs, if required, be completed on time. For maintenance of ghats along the Ganga River, coordination with Uttar Pradesh officials should be ensured if closure of the Ganga Canal becomes necessary. Strengthening of ghats, installation of safety railings and anti-slip arrangements must be completed before the fair. He also directed that all electrical lines in the Kumbh area be made underground.

The Chief Minister further instructed proper land management and allotment processes in the Kumbh area, stating that the Mela Officer should personally monitor the process to ensure the area remains free from encroachments.

Cabinet Ministers Satpal Maharaj and Subodh Uniyal, along with former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Trivendra Singh Rawat, also attended the meeting and offered suggestions. Mela Officer Sonika presented detailed information on the progress of approved works and proposed arrangements. Senior administrative and police officials were also present at the meeting.
