Kumari Selja Trashes BJP's Offer, Affirms Her Loyalty To Congress: 'Refrain From Advising Me'

A day after Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar speculated about Senior Congress leader Kumari Selja possibly joining BJP, Selja responded, advising the saffron party to stop offering her suggestions.

Khattar had earlier extended an invitation to Selja to join BJP, implying that after the way Congress had treated her, any self-respecting individual would reconsider their options.

In her reply, made during the 'Panchayat AajTak Haryana 2024' event, Selja firmly stated, "BJP leaders should refrain from giving me advice. Congress runs through my veins, just as my father passed away wrapped in the Tricolour. I, too, will go wrapped in that same Tricolour one day."

Addressing the upcoming Haryana elections, Selja denied any dissatisfaction within Congress, though she acknowledged some internal matters being worked out.

"There are always discussions within the party that we cannot share publicly. The party is progressing, and such matters are part of internal decision-making," she said.

When asked about Congress' decisions on candidacies, Selja remarked, "It's up to the party to make decisions, and anyone can stake their claim. I may have said things that possibly created fear among some, but that's part of politics."

She highlighted that her efforts were not for personal gain, clarifying, "I wanted to contest from Uklana in the Assembly elections, but I didn't receive the ticket. However, that doesn't mean my existence in politics ends there. There will be more opportunities in the future."

On the question of who will become CM if Congress wins the elections, Selja stated, "It's not clear yet. The party high command will decide, but time has its own way of unfolding."
