Kolkata Metro Train Schedule For August 15: Check Revised Train Timings For Blue & Green Lines On I-Day
In preparation for Independence Day on August 15, 2024, Kolkata Metro will implement a schedule adjustment affecting several lines to accommodate the holiday.
Commuters are advised to take note of the reduced service frequencies and altered operational hours for the day, as reported by India.com.

Blue Line (Dakhineswar-New Garia)
For the Blue Line, which typically operates 288 services daily, the number will be reduced to 188 services on Independence Day. This reduction includes 94 services in each direction. The operational hours for the Blue Line will be adjusted to run from 6:50 am to 9:40 pm. The special night service, which usually operates at 10:40 pm, will continue as scheduled.
First Services:
- 6:50 am from Dumdum to Kavi Subhash
- 6:50 am from Kavi Subhash to Dakshineshwar
- 6:55 am from Dumdum to Dakshineshwar
- 7:00 am from Dakshineshwar to Kavi Subhash
Last Services:
- 9:28 pm from Dakshineshwar to Kavi Subhash
- 9:30 pm from Kavi Subhash to Dakshineshwar
- 9:40 pm from Dumdum to Kavi Subhash
- 9:40 pm from Kavi Subhash to Dumdum
Special Night Service:
- Departures from Kavi Subhash and Dumdum at 10:40 pm
Green Line (Sector 5-Sealdah and Howrah Maidan-Esplanade)
The Green Line will also experience a decrease in services:
Green Line-1:
- Service frequency will drop from 106 to 90.
- Services will start at 6:55 am from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V and at 7:05 am from Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah.
- The last services will be at 9:35 pm from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V and at 9:40 pm from Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah.
Green Line-2:
- The number of services will be reduced from 130 to 90.
- First services will commence at 7:00 am from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade and from Esplanade to Howrah Maidan.
- The last services will be at 9:45 pm from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade and at 9:45 pm from Esplanade to Howrah Maidan.
Operational Impact and Advice
The reductions in service are designed to align with the holiday schedule and ensure smooth operations during a busy period. Regular passengers and commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance to account for these changes, as per media reports. It is also important to note that services on the Purple Line and Orange Line will continue as usual without any alterations.
