Kolkata: Woman Trainee Doctor's Semi-Naked Body Found In Hospital, Autopsy Confirms Rape
The initial autopsy of a post-graduate trainee doctor, whose body was discovered at a state-run hospital on Friday, suggests she was murdered following sexual assault, according to police.
The autopsy ruled out suicide, leading to a case being registered at the Tala Police Station.

"This is definitely not a case of suicide; the woman was murdered following sexual assault," a police officer stated.
Autopsy Findings and Witnesses
The four-page autopsy report revealed bleeding from the woman's private parts and injuries on various parts of her body.
There were also signs of bleeding from her eyes and mouth, with injuries noted on her face, nails, belly, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger, and lips.
Two female witnesses and the victim's mother were present during the autopsy, which was conducted on-camera.
A senior Kolkata Police officer mentioned that the crime occurred between 3-6 am. The victim's neck bone was broken, indicating she was first strangled and then smothered.
"We are waiting for the full report of the autopsy, which will help us identify the culprits," he said.
Special Investigation Team Formed
Kolkata Police have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising members from the homicide department to investigate the crime.
Earlier in the day, the semi-nude body of the woman, a second-year student in the chest medicine department, was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. She had been on duty Thursday night.
Her father alleged that she was raped and murdered inside the hospital and accused authorities of trying to hide the truth.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reportedly called the victim's parents to assure them of appropriate action against those responsible.
Hospital Response and Protests
Health Secretary NS Nigam and Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the hospital and met with senior officials.
The hospital authorities formed a three-member panel to investigate her death.
Meanwhile, post-graduate trainee doctors at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital halted work in all departments except emergency services, demanding immediate arrests.
Several student associations held rallies calling for a swift investigation into her death.
Opposition BJP leaders, including MLA Agnimitra Paul, visited the hospital and demanded an independent investigation under a magistrate.
Trinamool Congress leader Santanu Sen stated: "We want a fair, transparent and thorough probe into the entire incident."
A doctor from the hospital mentioned that she had dinner with juniors around 2 am before going to rest in the seminar room due to a lack of separate on-call rooms.
Her body was found there in the morning. Five colleagues who were on duty with her that night have been interrogated by police.
A senior member of the Association of Health Service Doctors, Dr Manas Gumta, alleged attempts to suppress information regarding the incident.
The investigation continues as authorities seek justice for the victim while addressing safety concerns within medical institutions.
