The court expressed concern over the rapid reassignment, questioning the appropriateness of such a move under the circumstances. "If the principal has stepped down owing to moral responsibility, it is rather serious that he is rewarded within 12 hours with another appointment. There is an apprehension that with lost time, something will go wrong," the court stated, as reported by Live Law India.
The High Court has also ordered the submission of the case diary in the RG Kar rape and murder case by 1 pm today, as per media reports. The court emphasized that the principal, as the guardian of all doctors working in the institution, must show empathy and take responsibility for the welfare of the staff. The court added that given the gravity of the situation, Dr. Ghosh should be at home, not employed elsewhere.
This case has sparked widespread outrage, with junior doctors from Gandhi Medical College staging a candlelight march in Hyderabad to protest the tragic incident., as reported by Hindustan Times. The medical community continues to demand justice for the victim and accountability from those in positions of authority.
The post-mortem report of the trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has revealed that she had been subjected to "genital torture." The report indicated that the victim was throttled before being smothered to death, with her thyroid cartilage found broken due to the strangulation. The crime is believed to have occurred between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on August 9, as reported by Hindustan Times.
It was noted in the report that the victim had sustained injuries to her belly, lips, fingers, and left leg. Additionally, her mouth had been forcibly covered, and her head was pressed against a wall or the floor to silence her and prevent her from calling for help.
Amid growing outrage over the horrific crime, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has set a six-day deadline for the city police to solve the case. Banerjee stated that if the police are unable to crack the case by Sunday, her government will request the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe, as per media reports. This move comes in response to the demands of opposition parties and student protesters, who have been calling for a more thorough investigation into the incident.
