The victim, a post-graduate trainee doctor, was found dead in a seminar hall on Friday morning. She had gone there to rest after her meal, and the crime is believed to have occurred between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

According to the initial autopsy report, her body was found with severe injuries, bleeding from her eyes, mouth, and private parts, and other injuries on her leg, neck, hand, and lips.

Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the hospital twice within three days, holding meetings with agitating junior doctors.

He confirmed, "After committing the crime, the accused went back to the place where he was staying and slept till late on Friday morning. After waking up, he washed the clothes he was wearing during the crime to destroy evidence. His shoes, with blood stains on them, were found during a search."

The autopsy report was handed over to the victim's parents, and the hospital has since expelled two security personnel for failing to perform their duties.

Goyal added, "We had a fruitful meeting with the students and we think they are satisfied. As per their demand, we have removed one assistant police officer who was posted here."
