The accused, a civic volunteer with no professional links to the hospital but a frequent visitor to its premises, later washed his clothes in an attempt to destroy evidence. However, police discovered blood marks on his shoes during a search.

The victim, a post-graduate trainee doctor, was found dead in a seminar hall on Friday morning. She had gone there to rest after her meal, and the crime is believed to have occurred between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

He confirmed, "After committing the crime, the accused went back to the place where he was staying and slept till late on Friday morning. After waking up, he washed the clothes he was wearing during the crime to destroy evidence. His shoes, with blood stains on them, were found during a search."
The autopsy report was handed over to the victim's parents, and the hospital has since expelled two security personnel for failing to perform their duties.
Goyal added, "We had a fruitful meeting with the students and we think they are satisfied. As per their demand, we have removed one assistant police officer who was posted here."
