Kiran Bedi urges MPs to pass Lokpal Bill

Ralegan Siddhi, Dec 18: On Tuesday when the Lokpal Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha, Ralegan Siddhi, where social activist Anna Hazare was on an indefinite fast, erupted with joy.

Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi who is also on a fast along with Hazare urged the MPs to pass the Lokpal Bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. "I appeal to Lok Sabha to pass the Lokpal Bill so that Anna can end his fast by today evening," she said on Wednesday.

The Lokpal Bill was passed in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday and was to be discussed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Speaking about the passing of the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha, Bedi said that this was indeed an achievement for the country. "I saw tears in Anna's eyes when the Bill was passed in the Upper House," she said.

Though the Lokpal Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha it faced a lot of opposition from the Samajwadi Party.
