KIIT Student Death: Was Accused Boyfriend Trying to Flee Bhubaneswar? Flight Ticket Adds To Mystery

The tragic death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal, a third-year B.Tech student at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, has shocked many, raising suspicions about a strained relationship with fellow student Advik Srivastava. Recently, a photo of a flight ticket was shared on social media, allegedly belonging to Advik, suggesting that he may have tried to flee Bhubaneswar after the incident.

Prakriti was found dead on February 16, 2025, in her hostel room under mysterious circumstances. The flight ticket, which was posted by a user on social media platform 'X,' shows a flight from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata, booked in Advik's name for the same evening. The ticket indicated a departure time of 9:20 PM, just hours after Prakriti's death was discovered. This has led many to question whether Advik was attempting to leave the city after being involved in the incident.

KIIT Student Death

Prakriti's death is suspected to have been a suicide, triggered by alleged harassment from Advik. The couple was said to have been in a tumultuous relationship, and it's believed that the ongoing tension between them led to the tragedy. Advik, who is also a third-year student at KIIT, has since been arrested by the police in connection with the death.

An audio clip circulating on social media allegedly features a conversation between Advik and Prakriti, with a male voice heard abusing a female voice, presumed to be Prakriti. This audio has fueled speculation and further raised questions about the nature of their relationship.

Following Prakriti's death, several students at KIIT University held protests, demanding justice for her. They claimed that Prakriti had previously reported the harassment to the university's International Relations Office (IRO), but no action had been taken. This led them to believe that the lack of support may have contributed to her tragic decision.

The university's Registrar, Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, addressed the media, confirming that Prakriti's death was linked to her strained relationship with Advik. The university has sealed her room, informed her family, and the police have arrested Advik for further investigation.

In a related move, the university issued a notice ordering Nepali students to vacate the campus immediately, with the university remaining closed for international students from Nepal starting on February 17, 2025.
