Three Youth Congress Workers Detained in Kerala Over Fake Voter ID Cards
Three Youth Congress workers have been detained in Kerala for allegedly using fake voter ID cards during the recent organisational polls.
On Tuesday, the Kerala Police detained three Youth Congress members in connection with allegations that fake voter ID cards were used during the organization's recent elections. Laptops, cellphones, and fraudulent election photo identification cards were also taken from them, according to the police.
Youth Congress Leader Denies Allegations

Rahul Mankoottathil, the leader of the Youth Congress, refuted the allegations and asserted that the party had carried out the elections fairly. He said that the charges were made by the opposition to tarnish the party's reputation.
Special Investigation Team Formed
Following the Chief Electoral Officer of the state's receipt of complaints regarding the use of fake voter ID cards during the Youth Congress organizational elections, a case was filed. To look into the situation, an eight-person special investigation team was put together.
Multiple Arrests Made
Abhi Vikram, Feny, and Binil Binu, three members of the Youth Congress who were taken into custody by the police, have been named. In connection with the crime, an FIR has been filed under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 471 (using a forged document as genuine).
Congress MLA Accused
K Surendran, the state president of the BJP, charged a faction of the Congress in Kerala with creating fake voter ID cards and highlighted the serious repercussions of such activity, including potential misuse in general elections and the acquisition of SIM cards. He claimed that a Congress MLA was responsible for creating the software used to generate the phony IDs and that senior Congress figures, including K C Venugopal and V D Satheesan, were aware of it.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) Raises Concerns
The state secretary of the CPIM, M V Govindan, called the incident serious and demanded a quick and thorough investigation. The Left party contacted the Election Commission to express alarm that the use of fake voter ID cards would seriously endanger democracy.
The inquiry into the alleged use of fake voter ID cards during the Youth Congress organizational elections is still ongoing. The police investigation's results and any potential effects on the state's political environment will be keenly watched.
