Kerala medical students bag major posts in AIIMS union election
New delhi, July 23: Creating new wave in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Kerala students bagged all posts, except one post in the MBBS students' union.
The union president, S. Abhijit and finance secretary Syed Siyaz Badar hail from Kollam district, Kerala.

The elections are conducted among 370 students in the institute, that includes students from foreign countries. Around 100 students in the institute are from Kerala.
S. Abhijit is the second Keralite to hold this position. John George was the first Keralite to decorate the presidentship in 2008.
Normally, students from Kerala and other students usually arrive at an agreement on seat sharing, but this year the consensus was not agreed upon and elections became inevitable.
Thus, the Keralites created history at the institute by bagging all seats in the union. The only exception was the sociological secretary, Aiswarya Verma.
Vishnu was elected as the Vice president, TV Srilal bagged the general secretary post. Gymkhana sports secretary post was bagged by PK Nafeel. Archana Sasi was elected as the literary secretary, Althaf Majood was chosen as the magazine secretary, Amal and Swati were elected as secretary of boys' and girls' hostel respectively.
The panel went to the election with promises of renovating the hostel and offering wi-fi.
