Kerala Love Jihad: Hadiya not being tortured by parents say police
Four months ago, the Kerala High Court had sent Hadiya with her parents, K M Asokan and Ponnamma, after annulling her marriage with Shafin Jahan.
In a report submitted to the Kerala Women's Commission, the police have said that Akhila alias Hadiya is not being tortured by her father. The commission had sought a report after a video of the lady surfaced in which she is alleged to have accused her parents of torture.
The report stated that she is guarded by the police and there is no physical torture being meted out to her. The police, in its report, also stated that she was not given any drugs.
On October 31, the Supreme Court observed that the consent of the girl is prime in the Kerala 'love jihad' case, adding that she is a major. The court also asked the father to produce Hadiya on November 27, the next date of hearing in the case.
