Kejriwal Welcomes CBI Probe Into Bungalow Renovation, Says Nothing Will Come Out Of It

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed his approval on Thursday for the initial investigation conducted by the CBI regarding alleged irregularities concerning the construction of his residence. He confidently stated that the investigation would not reveal any wrongdoing, as he views all such allegations as groundless.

Kejriwal Accuses PM of Conducting False Inquiry In Bungalow Renovation Row

In addition to his stance on the investigation, the AAP leader took the opportunity to criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning the expectations from someone he referred to as a "fourth pass king." He suggested that the Prime Minister seemed more inclined to engage in perpetual inquiries and non-stop speeches, alluding to a perceived aim to pressure him into submission. However, Kejriwal remained steadfast, asserting, "I won't bow down to them, no matter how many spurious investigations or cases they pursue."

Kejriwal went on to challenge PM Modi by questioning the outcomes of previous investigations, emphasizing that if the current inquiry failed to unearth any wrongdoing, the Prime Minister should consider stepping down for conducting an allegedly false investigation. He further accused the BJP of using its full power to eliminate the Aam Aadmi Party.

These comments from Kejriwal followed the CBI's initiation of a preliminary inquiry into potential irregularities in the construction of his official residence in Delhi's Civil Lines area. The agency has requested various documents, including building plans, approvals, and payment records. They also sought documents from the Delhi government's Public Works Department related to work specifications, including marble flooring.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari, during a press conference, stated that the CBI investigation aimed to uncover details about the tendering process for Kejriwal's residence. The AAP issued a statement indicating their belief that the CBI inquiry, like over 50 previous cases, would fail to reveal any wrongdoing.
