Kejriwal Responds to Gandhi's Remarks on Fear and Bravery Amid Political Tensions

Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has intensified tensions within the INDIA bloc by launching a counterattack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Kejriwal criticised Gandhi over the National Herald case and land issues involving Robert Vadra. This response came after Gandhi's remarks at a Delhi rally, where he accused Kejriwal of being afraid of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and being involved in a liquor scam.

Kejriwal Hits Back at Gandhis Comments

Gandhi's comments also included accusations against Kejriwal for not taking action during crucial times like the 2020 Delhi riots. He mocked Kejriwal's lifestyle change, referring to allegations of lavish spending on his official residence. In response, Kejriwal questioned why Gandhi's family seemed immune to investigations under the BJP government.

Political Tensions Rise

Kejriwal challenged Gandhi, asking why neither he nor his family had been arrested in cases like National Herald. He also questioned how Robert Vadra received a clean chit from the BJP. "Don't preach on fear and bravery," Kejriwal stated in Hindi on social media, emphasising that the public knows who is truly brave or cowardly.

The INDIA alliance, formed for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, has seen increased strain due to these exchanges. While the alliance aimed to unite parties like Congress and AAP, their rivalry in Delhi has exposed underlying tensions. Both parties have contested assembly polls separately since their joint Lok Sabha campaign.

Electoral Battle Intensifies

As the election date approaches, with polling on February 5 and results on February 8, this verbal clash adds intensity to an already heated electoral contest. The AAP, which has governed Delhi for over ten years, faces a significant challenge from the BJP, eager to regain power in the capital after 25 years.

Kejriwal shared a video clip of Gandhi stating uncertainty about other party leaders' fear of Modi but claiming that Kejriwal trembles before him. This further fuelled the ongoing war of words between the two leaders as they vie for political dominance in Delhi.

Support and Rivalry

Key allies within the INDIA bloc, such as Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress and Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party, have shown support for Kejriwal in Delhi. Meanwhile, Congress is focused on regaining its influence after losing ground post-Sheila Dikshit's tenure.

Kejriwal also questioned Gandhi's silence on certain issues, suggesting an agreement between BJP and Congress. "People are asking why Rahul Gandhi is silent on Rajmahal," he remarked, adding that Gandhi repeated BJP's speech in Delhi without addressing public concerns.

The escalating conflict between Kejriwal and Gandhi highlights the fragile nature of alliances within the INDIA bloc. As both parties prepare for upcoming elections, their rivalry underscores deeper political divides despite attempts at unity.
