CM Kejriwal sacks Food Min Asim Ahmed Khan for demanding bribe of Rs 6 lakh from builder

New Delhi, Oct 9: In a dramatic turn of events, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday sacked his Food and Supplies Minister Asim Ahmed Khan after he was found being indulged in corrupt practices.

Addressing an emergency news conference Delhi CM Kejriwal said, "Asim Ahmed Khan has been sacked as Food Minister. We received a complaint, assessed it and have decided to remove Asim Ahmed from Cabinet. We're referring this complaint to CBI."

Delhi Government told 39-year-old Khan, AAP MLA from Matia Mahal, allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a builder. Khan has been sacked but CM Kejriwal maintained silence when asked if the MLA will be sacked from the party.

An audio clip released by Delhi Govt, Khan could be heard demanding a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a builder in Delhi. The audio clip was part of an internal enquiry conducted by the AAP government.

"I & Manish listened to that audio clip, we did preliminary assessment of that & prima facie it seems to be a serious matter. Our action will act as a deterrent," Arvind Kejriwal told media persons.

The opposition BJP has termed it a damage control exercise by the Kejriwal Government while Congress has demanded the resignation of the AAP MLA.
