Kejriwal & Bhagwant Mann Attend Kirtan in Srinagar, Honour Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th Martyrdom Year

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann attended a kirtan darbar at Gurudwara Shri Chatti Patshahi Sahib in Srinagar. This event marked the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Kejriwal expressed that such a sacrifice is unparalleled in history, as Guru Tegh Bahadur gave his life to protect Hinduism at Chandni Chowk in Delhi.

Bhagwant Mann highlighted the importance of educating future generations about these sacrifices through modern means like light and sound shows and YouTube. He mentioned that Guru Tegh Bahadur's sacrifices were unmatched, especially for the protection of Kashmiri Pandits. Mann also shared stories from history, including how Bhai Jaita Ji brought Guru Sahib's head to Amritsar despite challenges.

Significance of Guru Tegh Bahadur's Sacrifice

Kejriwal urged everyone to participate in events organized by the Punjab government to commemorate this occasion. He emphasized the need to pass down stories of Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom to inspire future generations. Kejriwal also expressed his gratitude for being part of this journey starting from Srinagar and reaching Anandpur Sahib on 22nd November.

Mann elaborated on how historical figures like Bhai Mati Das Ji inspired him during childhood. He recalled listening to religious hymns and stories about sacrifices made by figures like Bhai Dayala Ji and Bhai Sati Das Ji. These narratives have left a lasting impact on him.

Educational Initiatives by Punjab Government

The Punjab government plans to incorporate Guru Tegh Bahadur's biography into school curriculums. This initiative aims to educate children about the sacrifices made by Guru Sahib and his family members, who stood for truth without showcasing miracles. Such efforts ensure that these historical events are not forgotten.

Mann also discussed how Sikh community services, like langar, reach disaster-hit areas swiftly, often second only to Red Cross efforts. The government has identified villages visited by Guru Sahib and is investing significantly in their development while showcasing his life through various mediums.

Commemorative Events Planned

A series of events are scheduled at Anandpur Sahib from 23rd to 25th November, including interfaith conferences and continuous readings of sacred texts. For the first time, a special assembly session will be held there on 24th November with significant decisions expected. Notable attendees include Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha.

Mann emphasized that awards like Padma Shri do not enhance the prestige of great raagi groups; instead, these groups elevate the awards' value. He stressed that truth is paramount, as it requires no memory unlike lies which need constant recollection.

He concluded by stating that time spent at such gatherings is invaluable, with no budget constraints for these programs. The entire cabinet will be present at Anandpur Sahib during these days to honor Guru Tegh Bahadur's legacy.
