Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini Dismisses Kejriwal's Allegations of Yamuna Pollution

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini dismissed allegations from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that the state's ruling BJP is deliberately polluting the Yamuna River, which provides water to Delhi. Saini criticised AAP's national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of making baseless claims. "Kejriwal has a habit of levelling baseless allegations and then run away. Ek kahawat hai -- thukoo aur bagho There is a saying, first spit and then run away," Saini remarked to reporters.

Saini Refutes Kejriwals Yamuna Claims

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi accused Haryana of contaminating the raw water reaching Delhi, likening it to biological warfare. Kejriwal echoed these sentiments, suggesting the pollution could lead to mass casualties in the capital. The Haryana BJP responded fiercely, calling Kejriwal's claims about poison in the Yamuna unfounded and politically motivated.

Haryana's Water Supply Defence

Saini defended Haryana's water supply to Delhi, stating that anyone can inspect the water quality from Sonipat. He invited Delhi's AAP government to send their chief secretary for a joint inspection with Haryana's chief secretary. Saini emphasised that there is no water shortage from Haryana's side and blamed mismanagement by the AAP government for any issues in Delhi.

Saini further criticised Kejriwal for failing to improve Delhi's water distribution system over the past decade. Despite promises of free water, residents still face challenges accessing clean water. "While there is no shortage of water, it is the mismanagement of the AAP government in Delhi that has left residents without access to clean water," Saini claimed.

Political Tensions Rise

The Haryana BJP intensified its attack on Kejriwal, labelling him as "Kaliya Naag of Kalyug" and accusing him of betraying his roots for political gain. They referenced a promise made by Kejriwal in 2020 to save the Yamuna from pollution or never seek votes again. The BJP predicted that voters would hold him accountable in upcoming elections.

At a press conference, Atishi alleged that BJP is intentionally disrupting Delhi's water supply due to anticipated electoral losses. Kejriwal accused BJP of engaging in "dirty politics" by mixing poison in the water sent to Delhi. He warned that this contamination could not be treated at water plants, forcing supply stoppages for safety.

The Haryana BJP dismissed these accusations as politically motivated rhetoric. They argued that no true Haryanvi would commit such an act against the Yamuna River, which holds cultural significance. The party expressed confidence that voters would reject Kejriwal's leadership in future elections.

The ongoing dispute between Haryana and Delhi highlights deep political divisions ahead of crucial elections. Both sides continue to exchange accusations over water management and pollution issues affecting millions of residents in the region.
