KC Venugopal Writes Open Letter To Pinarayi Vijayan, Raises 10 Questions On Alleged ‘Deals’ With BJP Leaders'

With elections approaching in Kerala, senior Congress leader and MP K. C. Venugopal has written an open letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, raising a series of questions about his government's decisions over the past decade.

In the letter, Venugopal said that as Kerala prepares to head into another election, many people in the state still have doubts about the legacy of Vijayan's ten-year rule. He said the questions he raised reflect discussions and concerns widely heard among the public.

"I hope you will respond to them," Venugopal wrote, before listing ten key issues he believes the Chief Minister should clarify.

Questions on meetings with BJP leaders

One of the major points raised in the letter relates to Vijayan's meetings with senior leaders of the central government. Venugopal questioned the purpose of a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi, reportedly held without officials present.

He also asked about a breakfast meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Kerala House in Delhi, again questioning why officials were not part of the discussions.

The Congress leader further referred to several meetings between Vijayan and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, asking whether any discussions had taken place outside Delhi and what their purpose might have been.

Questions on policy decisions and alliances

Venugopal also raised questions about Kerala's decision to implement the PM SHRI Schools Scheme, despite opposition from coalition partner CPI within the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF).

He asked why the decision was taken despite internal resistance and whether coalition partners were kept informed about the discussions with the central government.

Another issue raised was the implementation of new labour code rules and the reported increase in trade union registration fees, which Venugopal questioned as being done without consulting allies within the LDF.

Allegations related to ongoing cases

The Congress leader also referred to several controversial cases that have been in public discussion, including the SNC-Lavalin Case involving Vijayan.

He questioned the repeated adjournments of the case in the Supreme Court and asked whether the delays had any connection to an alleged political understanding with the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Venugopal also mentioned the alleged "monthly payment" case linked to Exalogic Solutions and the gold and dollar smuggling cases that had earlier triggered major political controversy in the state.

Questions on police and political developments

The letter also referred to allegations involving senior police officer M.R. Ajith Kumar and the controversy surrounding the disruption of the Thrissur Pooram festival, which Venugopal claimed raised questions about political interference.

He also asked Vijayan to clarify reports of a meeting involving BJP leaders at a hotel in the state capital that was allegedly mediated by spiritual leader Sri M.

Political tensions ahead of elections

The open letter comes at a time when political tensions are rising in Kerala ahead of the upcoming elections. By publicly raising these issues, Venugopal said he hopes the Chief Minister will respond and provide clarity to the people of the state.

The ruling CPI(M) has not yet issued an official response to the letter.
