Kashmiri Migrant Community Celebrates Reserved Assembly Seats: A Step Towards Political Empowerment
The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Amendment Bill reserves two assembly seats for the Kashmiri migrant community, granting them political representation and restoring their political legacy in the Kashmir Valley.

Political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir have expressed their support for the government's decision to reserve two seats in the assembly for the Kashmiri migrant community. They believe this move will empower the community politically and restore its political legacy in the Kashmir Valley.
BJP Spokesman Praises the Decision
Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesman Rajiv Pandita welcomed the passage of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Amendment Bill, which seeks to nominate two members from the Kashmiri migrant community and one representing the displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to the legislative assembly. He stated that it is a significant day for Kashmiri Pandits and will empower the community politically.
Former ASKPC General Secretary Applauds the Move
Former general secretary of the All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), Dr. T. K. Bhat, also praised the government for passing the bill. He believes it aims to restore the political legacy of the community in the Kashmir Valley, which was eroded earlier. Dr. Bhat expressed hope that this step will help restore the community's political representation.
Congress KP Minority Cell Chief Expresses Happiness
Congress KP minority cell chief Hira Lal Hangloo expressed happiness over the passage of the bill. He stated that it will provide representation to the community in the legislative setup for the first time under the reservation category. Hangloo welcomed the decision and expressed his happiness over the government's move.
Union Home Minister's Statement
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while speaking during the debate on the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Amendment Bill and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Amendment Bill, said that the two bills linked to Jammu and Kashmir tabled by the Union government in the parliament aim to provide justice to those deprived of their rights for over 70 years. He also mentioned that the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits could have been averted if terrorism had been tackled without considering vote-bank politics.
The decision to reserve two seats in the assembly for the Kashmiri migrant community has been met with positive responses from political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. They believe it will empower the community politically, restore its political legacy, and provide representation in the legislative setup. The move is seen as a step towards addressing the concerns and aspirations of the Kashmiri migrant community.
