Karnataka Lok Sabha Winners List 2024: Check Constituency-Wise Winners List
Karnataka is central to the BJP's plans to deepen its influence in South India. It was here that the BJP first tasted victory in the region when BS Yediyurappa seized power without crossing the magic number of seats.
In May 2023, the Congress came to power in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Deputy DK Shivakumar. In the 224-member House, the Congress holds 135 seats and has the backing of two others, while the BJP was reduced to 67 seats. The saffron party faced defeats even in its traditional strongholds in Central and North Karnataka.

Since 2004, when the Congress won 18 of the 28 seats, the party has never managed to surpass the two-digit mark in Lok Sabha elections. In 2019, the BJP won 25 of the 27 seats it contested, while the Janata Dal (S) and Congress secured just one seat each. The BJP garnered 52% of the total votes in Karnataka, whereas the Congress received only 31.3%.
This time, JD(S) is in alliance with BJP and is contesting three seats. However, the regional socialist party is in the news ahead of the results for another reason. Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, grandson of party patriarch H. D. Deve Gowda, is facing a probe over sexual abuse allegations. Revanna fled the country but returned from Germany on Friday and was immediately arrested by the SIT at Bengaluru airport. A special court in the city remanded him to police custody until June 6.
Despite the scandal breaking out during the polling period, the NDA remains confident that the episode will not affect their prospects in Karnataka.
