K'taka: KSRTC bus plunges into river; 1 dead, several injured

Mandya, Jan 28: According to fresh reports, the deceased has been identified as H M Ramakrishna (46). He was declared dead by the Maddur hospital.

The bus belonging to Hassan division and Ramanathpur depot started its journey from Bengaluru at 12.40 pm in the noon. The KSRTC lost control and met with the bizarre accident at 2.30 pm. All injured have been taken to the near by hospitals immediately.

However, driver, Virupakshappa and conductor, Govinda had providential escape with minor injuries. The bus was carrying 39 passengers, while 3 sustained fractures and 6 head injuries.

In a tragic accident, a KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) bus, KA 13 F 1994, commuting from Bengaluru-Mysuru plunged into Shimsha river after driver lost control of the wheel at Mandya district.

The police and fire fighters have arrived at the spot and swung into rescue action. As per the latest repoert established that, one killed in the accident, while 33 injured

The locals say that, the bus traveling from Bengaluru to Mysuru lost control of the wheel. It rammed a divider before falling into the river. There could be 50 commuters in the bus.

A major fatalities averted as water level in the river was less. Maddur police and fire fighter personnel arrived at the accident area. The rescue operations are underway.

It could be recalled that the bridge has been inviting accidents. Recently a car and a lorry met a similar fate.

Transport Minister, Ramalinga Reddy informed that the government would bear the medical expenses of the injured. He has directed concerned officials to immediately report at the place.
