Karnataka election 2023: No clear winner, predicts Zee News-Matrize opinion poll
With barely few days left for polling day, a pre-poll survey conducted by Zee News-Matrize has predicted no clear winner in the upcoming Karnataka assembly election 2023. The survey showed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will emerge as the single-largest party, followed by the Congress, and the Janata Dal (Secular).
The opinion poll by Zee News-Matrize, based on survey of over 2.92 lakh respondents across various districts of the state, predicted that the BJP would win 103-115 seats with a vote share of 42 per cent. The Congress is expected to win 79-91 seats with a vote share of 40 per cent, while JDS is predicted to win 26-36 with vote share of 15 per cent, and others might get 1-3 seats with vote share of 3 per cent votes.

According to the pre-poll survey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to be the gamechanger in the 2023 Karnataka Assembly Elections, while Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' is unlikely to have any significant impact on the Congress's performance in the upcoming polls.

Out of those surveyed, 44% believed that the Prime Minister's presence in the campaign will be the gamechanger for the BJP, while 34% partially agreed with the idea, and 22% disagreed with the concept of a 'Modi Wave'.
The opinion poll also revealed that the incumbent Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai of the BJP is the most preferred candidate among the people, followed by Siddaramaiah of Congress, H. D. Kumaraswamy of JD (S), and D Shivakumar of the Congress. Bommai received the highest support with 28% in favor of him, while Siddaramaiah was the favorite among 24% of the people, and 11% favored Kumaraswamy. The remaining 23% voted for other candidates.
It is worth noting that a majority of the surveyed population expressed satisfaction with CM Bommai's tenure in office. Among the sample size, 30% reported being satisfied with the CM's work, 41% were partially satisfied, while 29% stated that they were dissatisfied with his work.
