Karnataka Election Result 2023: Are incumbent BJP Ministers winning or losing?

Several incumbent ministers of the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government and the Assembly Speaker lost the elections, the results of which were declared on Saturday.

They include B Sriramulu, K Sudhakar, J C Madhuswamy, Govind Karjol, M T B Nagaraj and K C Narayana Gowda aside from Speaker Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.

Congress candidate B Nagendra has won the prestigious Bellary assembly constituency by more than 29000 votes. He defeated his nearest rival state's Health Minister B. Sriramulu, considered as one of the BJP's prominent faces for oppressed classes.
Dr. K. Sudhakar, the Minister for Health was also trailing in the Chikkaballapur Assembly seat and Congress candidate Pradeep Eshwar was leading by 1,400 votes.
Incumbent MLA Sharath Bachegowda retained the Hosakote seat by defeating MTB Nagaraj for the second time in succession.

Kageri lost to Bhimanna Naik of Congress in Sirsi seat. Sriramulu, the Transport Minister, was defeated by B Nagendra of Congress in Ballari by nearly 29,300 votes. Health Minister K Sudhakar lost to Pradeep Eshwar (Congress) in Chikkaballapura while Law & Parliamentary Affairs Minister J C Maduswamy was defeated by C B Suresh Babu of JD(S) in Chikkanayakanahalli.

Meanwhile, BJP's Basavaraj Bommai has won against Congress' Pathan Yasirahmedkhan from Shiggaon constituency.

Former CM BS Yediyurappa's son BY Vijayendra, who contested from his father's stronghold Shikaripura, also won.
