Karnataka Bandh: Roads Between Tamil Nadu And Karnataka Barricaded, Flights Cancelled| Details Inside
Commuters traveling between the southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have encountered disruptions in their daily routines due to a state-wide shutdown (bandh) announced owing to the longstanding Cauvery water dispute. Authorities at the border near Hosur, a crucial transit point for individuals commuting between these two states, have implemented a directive requiring travelers to change buses.
In response to the ongoing dispute, transportation authorities have now mandated that commuters traveling across the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border make bus transfers at the Hosur checkpoint. In fact, autorickshaws on the Karnataka side of the border are picking the passengers crossing the border to drop them inside Bengaluru city. As a matter of fact Bengaluru airport officials have said that 22 incoming and 22 outgoing flights were also cancelled by airlines due to this issue.

The Cauvery river, which flows through both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, has been a source of contention and legal disputes between the two states for many years. The allocation and distribution of Cauvery river water have been the subject of protracted legal battles and negotiations, often resulting in tensions between the neighboring states.
The decision to implement bus transfers has drawn mixed reactions from commuters, who are now facing added inconvenience during their journeys. While some understand the need for such measures to uphold regional interests and manage the delicate situation, others have expressed frustration over the added time and effort required for bus changes.
Local authorities and representatives from both states continue to engage in discussions and negotiations to find a more permanent and mutually agreeable solution to the Cauvery water dispute.
