Husband of BJP Corporator Surrenders to UP Police: Accused in Assault Case

In a recent development in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Ankit Shukla, the husband of BJP corporator Saumya Shukla and his four aides surrendered themselves to the UP Police on Friday. Subsequent to their surrender, they were arrested for allegedly assaulting a medical equipment shop owner as per the statement given by a senior police officer.
Details of the Accused

Ankit Shukla (36), along with Satendra Bajpai (41), Ankur Singh Rajawat alias Rishabh Singh (32), Yashasvi Shukla (27), and Suraj Tripathi (35) turned themselves in. They had been accused of being involved in an incident where a medical equipment shop owner was beaten up on Sunday night. The Deputy Commissioner of Police Central Pramod Kumar confirmed that this group was seen in CCTV footage from the scene.
The Charges
Police had launched an investigation into locating Shukla and his accomplices after they were booked under several charges related to rioting, armed assault with deadly weapons, causing severe harm through dangerous weapons among other offences linked to road rage case which occurred on Sunday. Initially, these individuals were charged under sections 324 - hurting with dangerous weapons; 354 - outraging modesty of woman; 504 - intentional insult; and 506 - criminal intimidation according to DCP Kumar’s statement.

Ankit Shukla is married to BJP corporator Saumya Shukla. He along with his aides arrived at the office of Joint Police Commissioner law and order accompanied by media personnel before handing themselves over to law enforcement authorities.
