Kannur Apparel Unit Freezes New Orders for Israel Police Amidst Gaza Conflict
Maryan Apparel Pvt Limited in Kannur, India, has announced a freeze on new orders for the Israel police due to the recent bombings of hospitals in Palestine. The company's owner, Thomas Olickal, expressed concern over the attacks on civilians and called for an end to the war.
Kannur: A private apparel unit in the Kannur district of Kerala, which recently gained attention for manufacturing uniforms for the Israel police, has announced a temporary freeze on new orders from the force. The decision comes in light of the recent bombings of hospitals in Palestine.
Temporary Freeze on New Orders

Thomas Olickal, who runs the Maryan Apparel Pvt Limited, announced that the firm has decided not to take any new orders from the Israel police force until the war in Gaza is stopped. Maryan Apparel Pvt Limited has been making the elegant light blue, long-sleeve uniform shirts for the Israel police since 2015.
Condemnation of Violence
Olickal expressed his deep concern over the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. He condemned the Hamas attack that resulted in the killing of civilians, as well as Israel's retaliatory actions. He emphasized that denying food and water to over 25 lakh people, bombing hospitals, and killing innocent women and children are unacceptable.
Moral Decision
Olickal stated that his firm will honor existing contracts as per international agreements, but has decided not to accept any new orders until the war ends. He urged everyone to work towards ending the war and restoring peace. He emphasized that the decision to freeze new orders is a moral one, as the company cannot accept the bombing of hospitals and the suffering caused to innocent people.
Background of the Conflict
A war broke out between Israel and Palestine after Hamas militants launched a surprise attack on Israel from the Gaza earlier this month. The conflict has escalated, resulting in significant casualties on both sides. This latest war marks the deadliest of five Gaza wars.
Kannur Apparel Unit's Mission
The Maryan Apparel Pvt Limited was established in Kannur with the objective of providing employment to local people who had become jobless due to the decline of the traditional beedi sector. The company specializes in uniforms for army personnel, police personnel, security officers, and health service workers from various countries across the globe. It also supplies school uniforms, dresses for supermarket staff, doctors' coats, coveralls, corporate wear, and more.
The decision by the Kannur apparel unit to freeze new orders for the Israel police reflects the growing concerns over the escalating conflict between Israel and Palestine. The company's commitment to ethical practices and its call for an end to the war highlights the importance of promoting peace and justice in the region.
