Kanhaiya Kumar is lodged in the same cell No 3 as Afzal Guru
New Delhi, Feb 19: Call it coincidence or a pre-determined move by the Delhi police, JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar has been lodged in the same cell (No 3) as Afzal Guru in Tihar Central Jail.
He has been booked under sedition charge in connection with the JNU row where anti-national slogans were chanted. He has been remanded in judicial custody till March 2 and has been kept under tight security.

He is being monitored 24X7 through a CCTV camera. The ward is separate from the other wards and has a television and an attached toilet. He has also been provided with newspapers and a bedsheet.
A senior Tihar official said,"Kanhaiya who was brought to Tihar at around 8 pm has been lodged in a separate cell of ward number 4 of jail number 3. Two Tamil Nadu Special Police personnel have been deputed to keep a round-the-clock watch over him and ensure his safety."
High security alert has been installed for the safety of the student leader.
JNU grabbed the spotlight when two student groups clashed over Parliament attack mastermind Afzal Guru's hanging and termed it as a "judicial killing".
