Actor Kamal Haasan who will embark on a statewide tour in February has announced that he will begin his political journey from former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's residence. In his weekly column, the actor declared his tour will begin from Dr Kalam's residence as a mark of respect to the vision the missile man had for the country.

"I will begin my statewide tour from Dr Abdul Kalam's house in Ramanathapuram. He had a vision for the country and I want to replicate his thoughts," read the column. The actor also spoke about Dravidianism being a pan India concept deeming people of Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh as Dravidians too.

While there is no clarity on the next plan of action over Rajinikanth's political journey, Kamal Haasan is expected to announce the name of his party on February 21 when he begins his tour. Ramanathapuram that houses Dr Kalam's residence is also the hometown of Kamal Haasan.

"At the commencement of the journey, I intend to announce the name of my political party along with the guiding principles we intend to live by," Kamal Haasan had said in a statement earlier. The tour, the actor has maintained, is his attempt to "truly understand what the needs of people are, what is afflicting them and what their aspirations are."

The actor's decision to begin his tour from Abdul Kamal's residence is in line with his demand to the people of Tamil Nadu to "question mediocrity" and "raise the bar" of governance and welfare in the State.
