Kailash Satyarthi calls Gorakhpur hospital deaths 'a massacre'
UP deputy CM KP Maurya assured strict action against people responsible for the tragedy.
Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi has termed the tragic death of over 60 children in Gorakhpur's Baba Raghav Das Medical College as 'massacre'.

In his tweet Satyarthi said: ''Over 30 kids died in hospital without oxygen. This is not just a tragedy. It's a massacre. Is this what 70 years of freedom means for our children?''

He appealed to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath to fix the corrupt medical system of the state.

Meanwhile, UP deputy CM KP Maurya assured strict action against people responsible for the tragedy. He said that opposition parties giving statements in haste, but the government is committed to service of people.
Senior Congress leader, Manish Tiwari sought the resignation of Yogi Adityanath, who is also MP of the Gorakhpur constituency, on moral grounds.
Sixty-three children died in the state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur since the past two days, district magistrate Rajeev Rautela said on Friday. The Union home ministry said according to the SP of Gorakhpur, 21 children died due to shortage of supply of liquid oxygen.
