Rajasthan Government Issues Health Guidelines Following Jodhpur Woman's Death from Congo Fever
A 51-year-old woman from Jodhpur succumbed to Congo fever on Wednesday at a hospital in Ahmedabad. The Rajasthan health department has issued guidelines to prevent the disease across the state. Her sample tested positive at the National Institute of Virology, Pune, while she was treated at NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad.

Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur, Public Health Director, stated that the Chief Medical and Health Officer in Jodhpur has been directed to deploy a rapid response team to the affected area. This team will work to prevent further infections. Suspected cases and symptomatic individuals are being traced and isolated to contain the spread.
Preventive Measures and Public Awareness
Congo fever is a zoonotic viral disease transmitted through tick bites. The Animal Husbandry Department has been instructed to implement measures to control and prevent this disease. Efforts are underway to educate the public about precautions to stop the infection from spreading.
All medical institutions, both private and government, have been advised to collect samples from anyone showing symptoms of Congo fever. These samples should be sent for testing immediately, and the medical department must be informed promptly.
Monkey Pox Test Results
In another case, a 20-year-old youth from Nagaur was tested for monkey pox after arriving in Jaipur from Dubai. During a health check-up at Jaipur airport, rashes were found on his body, leading to his isolation at RUHS hospital. His blood sample was sent for testing as a precautionary measure.
The test results for monkey pox came back negative on Wednesday. Dr. Mathur confirmed that the youth was diagnosed with chicken pox during tests conducted in Jaipur.
The health department continues to monitor these situations closely, ensuring that necessary actions are taken swiftly to protect public health and prevent further outbreaks.
