Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024: BJP-AJSU To Announce Seat Sharing This Week, Say Reports

The alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) for the Jharkhand assembly elections is nearing completion. Both parties are expected to reveal their seat-sharing formula soon. AJSU has reportedly requested 16 seats, and further discussions are planned to finalise the agreement.

Late last night, significant talks took place at Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence. AJSU National President Sudesh Mahto and senior BJP leaders from Jharkhand were present. These discussions are crucial as they aim to solidify the alliance's seat-sharing arrangement.

Alliance Discussions Continue
Another round of negotiations is anticipated in Delhi within a few days to finalise the details. The BJP-AJSU alliance is likely to formally announce their seat-sharing plan shortly. This collaboration aims to strengthen their position in the upcoming elections.

Recently, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma stated that "The BJP will contest the Jharkhand elections in alliance with AJSU Party and JD(U). The seat-sharing agreement with the allies has been done on 99 per cent of the seats. Discussions are underway for the remaining one or two seats and it will be finalised soon," he said while speaking to reporters in Ranchi.

Final Announcement Expected Soon
Sarma mentioned that a formal announcement regarding this alliance would be made after 'Pitri Paksha', which concludes on October 2, according to news agency PTI. This timeline suggests that an official declaration is imminent, aligning with cultural observances.

The elections for Jharkhand's 81-member assembly are scheduled later this year. The BJP-AJSU partnership aims to consolidate their influence in this electoral battle, making strategic decisions about seat distribution crucial for their success.

This collaboration between BJP and AJSU reflects a strategic move to enhance their electoral prospects in Jharkhand. As talks progress, both parties aim to finalise arrangements that will benefit their political objectives in the state assembly elections.
