OneIndia Exclusive | Jharkhand Election: Here's Why Ranchi's Muslim Voters Are Tilting Towards JMM

As the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly Elections approach, Ranchi's Muslim community is emerging as a crucial voice in shaping the political landscape of the state.

In this exclusive coverage from OneIndia, we delve into the reasons behind the community's tilt towards Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the JMM in the upcoming polls.

Ranchi s Muslims Tilting Towards JMM

Amid growing concerns over governance, welfare schemes, and religious inclusivity, many in the Muslim community are expressing confidence in Soren's leadership. From promises of social security to his government's stance on minority welfare, Soren's policies have resonated with a section of the Muslim voters in Ranchi.

Muslims constitute almost 20% of the total 3.5 core voters in Jharkhand, making them an electoral force to reckon with.

Mohammad Fareed Khan, a voter, said that JMM has an upper hand this election. He added, "People are happy with the work done by Hemant Soren in the state." Talking about JMM's candidate from Ranchi, Mahua Maji, Khan said, "People of all communities will be voting for her".

Meanwhile, he criticised the current BJP MLA CP Singh and blamed him for city's crumbling infrastructure.

One voter, Babbar, spoke vociferously in favour of the Hemant Soren government and slammed the Modi government at the Centre.

"BJP runs on 'jumla' rather actual work. None of the promises made by PM Modi since 2014 have been fulfilled, be it black money or 2 crore annual jobs. Meanwhile, in Jharkhand Hemant Soren has worked tirelessly for the people. His schemes and initiatives have reached people."
