Jayalalithaa rebuttals Karunanidhi's charges of non-implementation of projects

Chennai, May 5: Post remarks from DMK chief Karunanidhi over the inefficiency of the AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, the latter said that Karunanidhi and Stalin are conspiring against her and are dpreading "canards". She said in a statement:

"Karunanidhi and Stalin have been spreading canards on my announcements in the assembly in the last five years. I have explained earlier about the steps taken under 12 heads [12 departments] and now I detail the steps taken in the remaining two heads."

The statement further explains teh steps taken under municipal and water supply board, youth and sports welfare. 40 announcements under water have also been initiated, one of them dealing with cleansing the environment in Chennai.

Amma further adds, "Works at a total cost of Rs 50 crore to upgrade the infrastructure of Pudukottai municipality in connection with its centenary has been completed. Project reports for two desalination plants in Ramanathapuram and Tuticorin districts have been drawn and funds allocation is at the final stages."

Under the youth and sports department, a center for excellence in sports was established at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Amma also explained how repair and upgrade was taking place in many sports stadiums.
