'Jawan' Undeterred By Boycott Call Over Udhayanidhi Stalin's Link As SRK's Film Sets Box Office On Fire

Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' has set the box office on fire despite the boycott call given by a section of netizens over the film's link with Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.

For unversed, DMK Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin had recently created a controversy by allegedly comparing 'Sanatana Dharma' to Dengue, Malaria and Corona and asked for its eradication of it. There was an uproar over his comments with the BJP accusing him of calling for a "genocide" of Hindus.

Even the DMK's alliance partners in the INDIA bloc distanced themselves from the controversy. At the same time, a section of netizens called for the boycott of 'Jawan' as Stalin-owned Red Giant Movies is distributing King Khan's film in Tamil Nadu.

Despite the boycott call, 'Jawan' has come out with flying colours at the box office. On the first day, the movie has reportedly minted over Rs 75 crore (nett) at the India box office. More importantly, the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions raked in around Rs 9-10 crore, surpassing the previous best number of 'Brahmastra' which had garnered around Rs 3.75 crore on the opening day.

On the second day, the Hindi flick has added over Rs 45 crore in India, taking the two-day collection of the movie in the country to Rs 120 crore.

In the national multiplex chains such as PVR and Cinepolis, the movie has raked in Rs 22.45 crore on the second day.

Not just in India, the Atlee Kumar-directorial flick has collected £618,959 (Rs 6.41 crore) in the UK, A$ 899,173 (Rs4.77 crore) in Australia, NZ$ 196,366 (Rs 96.06 lakh) in New Zealand and € 296,345 (Rs 2.64 crore) in Germany.
