J&K Police Officers Transferred for Elections

New Appointments in Key Districts

According to an order issued by Principal Secretary Home, Chandrakar Bharti, seven police officials, including two IPS officers, have been transferred. These changes affect three districts and one police district. JKPS officer Imtiyaz Hussain Mir is now SSP Srinagar, Mohammad Zaid is SSP Baramulla, Ghulam Jeelani Wani is SSP Kupwara, and Ifroz Ahmad is SP Handwara.

The Election Commission had directed the transfer of senior police officials from these districts on Wednesday. They instructed the administration to submit a panel of IPS officers for their replacement by Thursday evening. The Commission's actions are seen as a measure to ensure a fair electoral process ahead of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

Reassignments of IPS Officers

IPS officers Gurinderpal Singh and Shobhit Saksena have been reassigned from their roles as SSPs of Baramulla and Kupwara districts. Singh will now serve as Incharge Director Police Telecommunications, while Saksena has been appointed as SSP CID Headquarters. Additionally, Dawood Ayoub, previously SP Handwara, has been appointed as SSP CID Headquarters.

In a communique sent to the J&K Chief Secretary, the Commission approved these postings. The appointments include Mohammad Zaid as SSP Baramulla, Ghulam Jeelani Wani as SSP Kupwara, Ifroz Ahmad as SP Handwara, and Imtiyaz Hussain Mir as SSP Srinagar.

The Election Commission's directive on Wednesday emphasized the need for timely submission of a panel of IPS officers for these key positions. This move aims to maintain impartiality in the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

The recent transfers and appointments reflect efforts to ensure effective law enforcement in these critical regions. The changes are expected to enhance administrative efficiency and support a transparent electoral process.

These strategic decisions by the Election Commission highlight their commitment to upholding democratic principles in Jammu and Kashmir. The newly appointed officers are anticipated to bring fresh perspectives and strengthen policing in their respective areas.

The government's swift action in implementing these transfers underscores the importance of maintaining law and order during the election period. The new assignments are part of broader efforts to ensure stability and fairness in the electoral process.

The conclusion wraps up the content by reiterating the significance of these appointments in promoting a fair electoral environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
