Jaish-e-Muhammad Terror Module Faces Charges in Srinagar Court

The Jammu and Kashmir Police filed a charge sheet against a Jaish-e-Muhammad terror module in a special NIA court in Srinagar, accusing them of attempting to disrupt peace and tranquillity in the Union Territory.

Srinagar, December 11: In a significant move to maintain peace and tranquillity in the Union Territory, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have filed a charge sheet against a Jaish-e-Muhammad terror module in a special NIA court in Srinagar. The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) of the J&K Police presented the charge sheet against Pakistan-based terror handler Abdul Rehman and his three associates in the Kashmir valley.

Terror Module Aimed to Disrupt Peace

The charge sheet highlights the nefarious intentions of the terror module, led by Rehman, to disturb the prevailing peace and tranquillity in the Union Territory. Rehman, who operates under various aliases, including Riyaz, Umar, Jigar, Ashfaq, and Luqman, along with his associates, employed covert communication applications to evade detection and ensure the secrecy of their activities.

Encrypted Communication and Radicalization

The investigation revealed that the Pakistani terrorist handler, acting on behalf of the ISI, established a network of overground workers (OGWs) and issued instructions through encrypted messaging applications. The accused primarily relied on encrypted internet messaging platforms and social media applications to stay connected and receive directives from handlers across the border.

Recruitment and Terrorist Acts

The primary objective of the terror module was to radicalize and recruit innocent youths, using them as couriers of arms, ammunition, and psychotropic substances. They aimed to expand their terrorist ranks and carry out terrorist acts throughout the valley, with the ultimate goal of disrupting peace and challenging the sovereignty and integrity of India.

Misuse of Social Media

The terror module exploited social media platforms to spread seditious material and propaganda, while maintaining anonymity to ensure secrecy. The handlers in Pakistan continuously attempted to create new terror modules through instigation, enticement, and implied coercion, aiming to recruit logistics and terror agents to further their unlawful activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Appeal to Kashmiri Youth

The Jammu and Kashmir Police spokesperson urged the youth of the Kashmir valley and their parents to remain vigilant and cautious. They highlighted that some youths were lured by the promise of rewards in paradise, money, and glamour, but these enticements should not mislead them. The spokesperson appealed to the youth not to fall into the trap of such incitements and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have demonstrated their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the Union Territory by filing a charge sheet against the Jaish-e-Muhammad terror module. The thorough investigation has gathered substantial evidence against the accused, including the Pakistan-based terror handler. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing threats posed by terrorist organizations and the importance of collective efforts to counter their activities.
