Amidst a backdrop of legal complexities, Singh managed to triumph over Kulbir Singh Zira of the Congress party by a notable margin of 197,120 votes. The Election Commission of India (ECI) reported that Singh garnered 404,430 votes, while Zira received 207,310 votes, cementing Singh's position as the chosen representative for the Khadoor Sahib segment.

The elation of Singh's victory was palpable as expressed by his parents, Balwinder Kaur and Tarsem Singh, who conveyed their joy to reporters following an emotional reunion with their son, as reported by Hindustan Times. Kaur shared, "He (Amritpal) was very happy...we felt very happy after meeting him. He asked to thank everyone who supported him."

Meanwhile, Tarsem Singh advocated for the withdrawal of all legal cases against his son, emphasizing the mandate bestowed upon him by the public and urging the government to enable Singh's advocacy for Punjab in the Lok Sabha. The significance of Singh's election extends beyond familial pride, resonating within the political landscape of Punjab.

The border state contributes 13 members to the 543-seat Lok Sabha, with Singh's victory representing a notable addition to its parliamentary representation. Furthermore, other members elected to the 18th Lok Sabha from Punjab include Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa, the son of Beant Singh, one of the bodyguards involved in the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Amritpal Singh's journey to victory has been marked by challenges, including his arrest by the Punjab Police in April of the preceding year. Despite legal hurdles and the imposition of the NSA, Singh's success underscores his resilience and the support garnered from constituents. His triumph in the Lok Sabha elections serves as a testament to his perseverance amidst adversity, signifying a significant milestone in his ongoing legal battle and political aspirations.
