J&K Police Crack Down on Inter‑State Jaish‑e‑Mohammed & Al‑Guraba Terror Network

The Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled an inter-state terror module tied to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH), two groups with deep extremist roots. Officials said on Monday that the crackdown marks a significant breakthrough in disrupting cross-border terror networks operating within India.

JeM, founded by UN-designated terrorist Masood Azhar in Pakistan, has long been implicated in attacks targeting Indian security forces. Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an al-Qaeda-linked outfit, has also been active in the region with the goal of spreading radical Islamist ideology.

Faridabad Raid Uncovers 350 kg Explosives

The operation coincided with a massive seizure of over 350 kilograms of explosives and ammunition in Haryana's Faridabad district. The joint effort by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, and the Intelligence Bureau thwarted what officials described as a major terror plot near the national capital.

Faridabad Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta confirmed that the joint team arrested Dr. Muzammil Shakil, a Kashmiri doctor and teacher at Al Falah University. "He was wanted for putting up posters supporting Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar," Gupta said.

The explosives, along with an AK-47 rifle and a large stockpile of ammunition, were recovered from a rented property in Dhauj village, roughly 45 kilometers from Delhi.

Key Arrests Reveal Widening Terror Links

Investigations revealed that Dr. Shakil had been living in the rented house for about three months before his arrest. The Jammu and Kashmir Police took him into custody on October 30 after another suspect, Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, was detained in connection with the same terror network.

Officials said the two had been coordinating with operatives linked to JeM and AGuH to facilitate logistics and communication channels for militant activities. The agencies are now probing the extent of their network and whether other individuals in the region may have provided support.

University Connection Under Scrutiny

Al Falah University, where Dr. Shakil served as a faculty member, is a private institution recognized by the University Grants Commission. The university administration has yet to issue a statement on the arrest. Authorities are examining whether the premises were used for recruitment or indoctrination purposes.

The bust underscores the growing collaboration between state police forces and central intelligence agencies in tracking cross-border terror funding and logistics networks that often span multiple states.
