Ratan Tata is a towering figure in the Indian industry. He served as chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012, during which time he transformed the Tata Group into a global powerhouse through strategic acquisitions, including Tetley, Corus, and Jaguar Land Rover.

After stepping down as chairman, he was appointed chairman emeritus of Tata Sons and several other group companies, such as Tata Motors and Tata Steel. He briefly returned as interim chairman in 2016 during a leadership dispute.
