Is Congress Gaining An Edge Over BJP In Haryana's Lok Sabha Seats? MOTN Survey Reveals

The latest Mood of the Nation survey predicts a gain for Congress at the expense of BJP in Haryana's Lok Sabha seats. With elections on the horizon, Congress is expected to secure six out of ten seats, reflecting a subtle shift in voter preference.

The Congress is predicted to gain one seat from the BJP in Haryana if Lok Sabha elections were held today, according to the latest Mood of the Nation survey conducted in August 2024.

The survey indicates that Congress would secure six out of the ten total seats in Haryana.

The Mood of the Nation poll, which analyses voter trends for a Lok Sabha election, was conducted just before the assembly elections in Haryana. The state is set to vote on October 1. However, it is important to note that voter sentiments and poll issues often differ between national and state elections.

Projected Vote Share

In terms of vote share, the survey suggests a close contest between the two major alliances. The INDIA bloc, which includes Congress, is expected to win 45.8 per cent of the votes. This is a slight decrease from the 47.61 per cent they polled in the 2024 elections. Meanwhile, the NDA's vote share would stand at 44.2 per cent, also experiencing a small drop from their previous 46.11 per cent.

The August 2024 edition of India Today's Mood of the Nation survey was conducted by CVoter between July 15 and August 10, 2024. The survey included interviews with 40,591 respondents across all 543 Lok Sabha segments in India. Additionally, another 95,872 interviews from CVoter's regular weekly tracker were analysed to identify long-term trends in vote and seat share.

Performance of Other Parties

Other parties like Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) are expected to continue struggling in Haryana. According to the survey, both parties would draw a blank, similar to their performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The shift in seat distribution and vote share highlights an evolving political landscape in Haryana as Congress gains momentum at BJP's expense. Both parties had won five seats each in the recent general election.

Chief Minister's Performance

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini appears to be facing strong anti-incumbency sentiments. According to the survey, 40 per cent of respondents said they were not at all satisfied with his performance. Meanwhile, 22 per cent expressed satisfaction and another 19 per cent said they were satisfied to some extent with his performance.

Haryana is gearing up for a fiercely contested Assembly election on October 1. The state has a total of 90 seats. Currently, BJP holds 40 seats while Congress has 31 seats; Independents and others hold the remaining 19 seats.

The Mood of the Nation survey provides valuable insights into voter preferences ahead of crucial elections. It underscores how political dynamics can shift over time based on public sentiment and performance evaluations.
