Tu Bol: Celebrating Womens Triumphs and Resilience
The National Commission for Womens Tu Bol event celebrated womens resilience and empowerment, featuring luminaries like Ritu Karidhal, who led the Chandrayaan-3 mission, symbolizing Indias space exploration prowess.
In a poignant celebration of resilience and empowerment, the National Commission for Women (NCW) organized a special program titled "Tu Bol" ahead of International Women's Day. The event brought together women from diverse backgrounds who shared their stirring stories of overcoming adversity and achieving remarkable success.

Ritu Karidhal: Leading India's Space Exploration
Among the luminaries who graced the occasion was Ritu Karidhal, a renowned scientist and aerospace engineer. Karidhal, who spearheaded the monumental Chandrayaan-3 mission, has become a symbol of India's prowess in space exploration. Reflecting on her journey, she highlighted India's rich ancient civilization and its medical texts dating back to 800 BC. She expressed excitement about India's next destination, Mars, and shared her fascination with space, which was ignited early in her life.
As the deputy director of the Mangalyaan mission, Karidhal emphasized the meticulous planning and precision required for its success. Despite setbacks, including a temporary data blackout behind Mars, her leadership ensured that history was made at 8 am IST, marking the first successful Mars mission on the inaugural attempt. Karidhal proudly declared that women scientists played an equal role in every team, underscoring the significance of gender parity in scientific endeavors.
Pragya Prasun Singh: Triumph Over Tragedy
Pragya Prasun Singh's journey from tragedy to triumph left a profound impact on the audience. Singh, who survived an acid attack, shared her story of resilience and the challenges she overcame to establish the Atijeevan Foundation. Her survival and subsequent advocacy for burn survivors challenged societal stigmas and prompted reflection on the alarming statistics of burn injuries in India.
Singh highlighted that every year, 7 lakh people are admitted with burn injuries, yet burn survivors often remain confined to the shadows due to stigma. She made a poignant plea to society to not only acknowledge survivors but also to empower them to thrive.
Rekha Sharma: Breaking the Silence
NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma echoed Singh's sentiments, urging women to raise their voices against injustice and prioritize mental health. Sharma shared her personal struggles, emphasizing the power of speaking out and reclaiming one's peace of mind. She affirmed the importance of breaking the silence surrounding women's issues, stating, "Bolna zaroori hai."
Saina Nehwal: Empowering Women Through Sports
Saina Nehwal, a renowned badminton player and Olympic medallist, offered a glimpse into her journey from adversity to acclaim. With anecdotes of perseverance and support, Nehwal highlighted the transformative power of sports in empowering women and fostering resilience. She emphasized that sports provide women with the opportunity to make a difference for their country.
Addressing Challenges in Politics and Mental Health
The program also featured young politician Neha Joshi, who addressed the challenges faced by women in politics, and Sister Shivani, who emphasized the importance of mental health awareness.
