IN-SPACe Gains Recognition to Develop Training Programmes for Skills in Space Sector

India's space regulatory body has achieved an important milestone in skill development within the space sector. The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has recognised it as an awarding and assessing entity. This recognition enables the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) to issue NCVET certificates to those who complete its approved qualifications.

Specialised Training Programmes

With this recognition, IN-SPACe can now offer specialised training programmes in key areas of space technology. These areas include satellite manufacturing, the use of space technology in agriculture, mission design, and avionics development for launch vehicles. Additionally, training will cover orbital mechanics, attitude dynamics, and navigation.

The recognition also allows IN-SPACe to create programmes focusing on propulsion systems for space missions. Furthermore, it can develop training related to space data products and services. According to a statement from IN-SPACe, these initiatives are crucial for building a skilled workforce in India's expanding space industry.

Aligning with Industry Demands

Vinod Kumar, Director of the Promotion Directorate at IN-SPACe, stated, "This recognition is a critical step in building a skilled talent base for India's growing space sector. By aligning our training initiatives with the demands of the space industry, we will empower learners with the knowledge and hands-on expertise needed to support the nation's ambitions in today's competitive global space scenario."

NCVET operates under the Ministry of Skill Development and acts as a national regulator. Its role is to establish standards and develop regulations to enhance vocational education and training. It aims to improve the skilling ecosystem across various sectors.

The collaboration between NCVET and IN-SPACe is expected to significantly contribute to India's ambitions in the global space arena. By providing comprehensive training aligned with industry needs, it aims to equip learners with essential skills and knowledge.
