Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurate 2 new Amrit Bharat express trains on Saturday, in addition to dedicating more Vande Bharat Express trains to the country. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared that these trains utilise push-pull technology to maintain consistent speeds during travel.

Features of Amrit Bharat train
- Semi-permanent couplers that absorb shocks.
- Covered vestibules to minimize air entry, enhancing train stability.
- Environmentally conscious toilets designed to conserve water.
- Upper berths with ample cushioning and nearby charging points for passenger comfort.
- Accessibility features for differently-abled passengers including ramps for boarding and spacious toilets.
- Air-conditioned drivers' cabins with pre-fitted KAVACH technology to reduce jerks and vibrations.
- These trains have been developed using indigenous technology as part of the Make in India initiative. Vaishnaw suggested that around 20,000 trains operating daily could potentially be upgraded based on this technology.

Timetable and fares:
The Darbhanga-Anand Vihar Amrit Bharat Express will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.
The Malda-Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express will run twice a week, on Sundays and Tuesdays.
Fares for the Amrit Bharat Express start at Rs 35 per seat for second sitting and Rs 46 per passenger for sleeper class for distances up to 5 km. The maximum fare is Rs 933 for second sitting and Rs 1,469 for sleeper class for distances between 4,951-5,000 km.
Notably, these trains do not come equipped with air conditioning.
