INSAT-3DS Launch Today: ISRO's GSLV-F14 Mission to Boost India's Ocean Monitoring Efforts
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to launch the INSAT-3DS satellite this Saturday. This significant mission will lift off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR) in Sriharikota at 5:35 pm IST, heralding a new era in India's space exploration journey.
INSAT-3DS, a cutting-edge meteorological satellite, is the newest member of ISRO's prestigious fleet, poised to enhance the operational capabilities of the existing INSAT-3D and INSAT-3DR satellites.

Funded entirely by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, this advanced satellite is designed to provide improved meteorological observations and monitor land and ocean surfaces more effectively.
It holds the promise of significantly enhancing weather forecasting accuracy and disaster warning capabilities, thereby boosting disaster preparedness nationwide.

The satellite will be launched into orbit by the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F14). This three-stage launch vehicle, measuring 51.7 meters in length and weighing 420 tonnes at liftoff, is tasked with placing INSAT-3DS into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
Post-launch, the satellite will undergo subsequent orbit-raising maneuvers to position itself in a geostationary orbit, further strengthening India's space presence.
ISRO resumed the 27.5-hour-long countdown to launch on Friday.
Indian industries have played a pivotal role in developing the INSAT-3DS satellite, showcasing the nation's technological prowess and promoting self-reliance in space exploration.
The successful completion of this mission will advance India's meteorological capabilities significantly.
