Madhya Pradesh Government Aims to Make Indore a No-Traffic Signal City with AI Innovations

The Madhya Pradesh government is planning to transform Indore into a city without traffic signals, according to an official. The initiative aims to enhance traffic flow and safety by using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for smarter traffic management. This approach is expected to reduce accidents and improve efficiency in the state's commercial capital.

Indore Set to Become No-Traffic Signal City

Efforts are underway by the Urban Development and Housing Department to implement this signal-less city plan. The strategy includes constructing flyovers, underpasses, and bylanes, alongside deploying intelligent traffic management systems. These measures aim to ensure seamless traffic operations throughout the city.

Urban Traffic Solutions and Infrastructure

The scheme's completion is anticipated to decrease travel time for residents while maintaining smooth traffic flow. The initiative is designed to accommodate the city's rapidly increasing urban traffic demands, as highlighted in an official release. The department is currently operating 1,330 buses on urban routes across the state.

To support environmental sustainability in urban areas, a proposal has been submitted to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for acquiring 552 electric buses under the PM e-bus service. Approved estimates for bus depot infrastructure cover cities like Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain, and Sagar.

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Development

In addition to bus depots, charging infrastructure estimates have been sanctioned for Bhopal, Jabalpur, Ujjain, and Sagar. The department is actively working on developing 217 e-charging stations in Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur to promote electric vehicle use.

This comprehensive approach aims not only to streamline urban transport but also to contribute positively to environmental conservation efforts. By integrating advanced technology and infrastructure development, the state seeks to address both current and future transportation challenges effectively.
