Madrassa Staffer in Indore Arrested After Assaulting Child; Extortion Claims Emerge
A madrassa staff member in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was detained on Monday for allegedly sodomising a 10-year-old boy, according to a police official. The incident reportedly occurred on August 2 after lunch when the 20-year-old accused assaulted the boy, who was a student at the madrassa.

The boy had been involved in a fight with other students and was made to sleep in the accused's room until tensions eased. Following the assault, the accused threatened to kill the boy if he disclosed the incident. The victim managed to leave the madrassa and used a passerby's phone to inform his mother about the ordeal.
Case Registered Under Relevant Acts
Based on the mother's complaint, authorities registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused has since been placed in judicial custody, as confirmed by the police official.
Meanwhile, a cleric from the madrassa alleged that an individual had demanded Rs 5 lakh from him. The man threatened to have the boy make false statements and file a case against the institution if the money was not paid. The cleric also claimed that the boy and the accused slept in separate rooms.
No Complaint About Extortion Received
However, Additional Superintendent of Police Rupesh Kumar Dwivedi stated that no complaint regarding this extortion demand had been received from the madrassa management. This statement contradicts the cleric's allegations about being blackmailed for money.
The victim's report led to immediate police action, ensuring that legal proceedings were initiated promptly. The case highlights serious concerns about child safety within educational institutions and underscores the need for stringent measures to protect minors.
The incident has raised questions about supervision and safety protocols at such institutions. Authorities are expected to investigate further to ensure justice for the victim and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The community awaits more information as investigations continue, hoping for swift justice and improved safety measures for children in educational settings.
