Indore Honeymoon Murder Case: Meghalaya DGP Confirms Wife Sonam Hired Killers To Kill Raja Raghuvanshi
Meghalaya's Director General of Police, Idashisha Nongrang, has confirmed that Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore was murdered during his honeymoon. His wife, Sonam, allegedly orchestrated the crime by hiring three men. The couple had arrived in Meghalaya on May 20, and Raja disappeared on May 23.
The shocking murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Sohra (Cherrapunji) has seen significant developments. According to DGP Idashisha Nongrang, Sonam hired contract killers to murder her husband. The couple had married on May 11 and travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20. The murder reportedly took place just three days later.

Investigation Details
A joint operation by the Indore Police and Shillong Police began after Raja went missing on May 23. His body was discovered in a deep gorge near Weisawdong Falls on June 2. Investigators also found a bloodstained machete and a raincoat near the location in the following days.
Police sources disclosed that Anand, one of the accused, delivered the initial blow. Raj Kushwaha is believed to be the mastermind behind the plan and maintained continuous contact with Sonam. Kushwaha was apprehended using his call detail records. Vicky Thakur is another arrested suspect.
Arrests Made
Raj Kushwaha was captured following a tip-off from Indore Crime Branch to Ghazipur Police in Uttar Pradesh. Sonam surrendered at Nandganj police station in Ghazipur. The accused have reportedly confessed to being hired by Sonam for the murder of her husband.
DGP Nongrang stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects involved in this conspiracy. The case has drawn national attention due to its shocking nature.
Reactions and Demands
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma commended the police team for solving the case within seven days, calling it a breakthrough. Families of both Raja and Sonam had previously demanded a CBI investigation due to dissatisfaction with the Meghalaya Police's pace and scope of investigation.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also sought intervention from the Union Home Ministry regarding this matter.
