IndiGo Airlines Introduces Direct Flights from Kolkata to Phuket for Enhanced Travel Options

IndiGo airlines has introduced direct flights from Kolkata to Phuket, Thailand. This marks the airline's first service connecting the eastern Indian city with the popular Thai destination. An official from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Kolkata airport highlighted that this new route will cater to the increasing travel demand between India and Southeast Asia.

IndiGo Launches Kolkata to Phuket Flights

The inaugural flight to Phuket saw passengers receiving their boarding passes in a ceremony attended by officials from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport and IndiGo. The Kolkata Airport shared on its official X handle, "Exciting news for travellers! IndiGo launches its daily flight from #KolkataAirport to the beautiful Phuket, Thailand..." The post also mentioned AAI's pride in supporting this new venture with top-notch infrastructure and safety.

Flight Schedule and Details

Flights from Kolkata to Phuket will operate six days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On Mondays and Tuesdays, flight 6E 1901 departs Kolkata at 6 am IST, arriving in Phuket at 10.40 am local time. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, it leaves at 6.50 am, reaching Phuket by 11.35 am. Fridays see a departure at 7.15 am with an arrival at 11.55 am, while Sundays have a 6.50 am departure and an 11.40 am arrival.

The return flight, numbered 6E 1902, follows a similar schedule. On Mondays and Tuesdays, it departs Phuket at 11.40 am and lands in Kolkata at 1.20 pm. Wednesdays and Saturdays have a departure time of 12.35 pm from Phuket, arriving in Kolkata by 2.20 pm. On Fridays, the flight leaves at 2.20 pm and reaches Kolkata at 3.05 pm; Sundays see a departure at 12.40 pm with an arrival time of 2.20 pm.

Growing Demand for Southeast Asia Travel

IndiGo had previously announced these flights on November 29, emphasising Kolkata's role as a regional hub for Indian tourists. The city is enhancing its infrastructure to support the rising demand for travel to Southeast Asia.

This new route is expected to strengthen ties between India and Thailand while offering more travel options for passengers seeking leisure or business opportunities in Southeast Asia.
